So some people who follow me, I don’t fucking know what type of blog you were expecting to follow

magickal-autistic-cat:

But if you were expecting some care-free white pagan who reblogs pictures of ~whimsical dreamcatchers~ and ~whimsical white girls in warbonnets~ and ~OMG gypsy fortune tellers~ then you were mistaken to follow me OR my astrology blog.

I have no time or patience for people who are so willing to dance on the graves of the cultures they’re appropriating.

Fin.

Reblogging this here too, because I don’t want to give anyone the impression that I am in any way, shape, or form, okay with cultural appropriation. I have noticed that some of my followers on this blog enjoy reblogging some of the things mentioned above and I’m not okay with that. I’m also keeping my original tags.

This blog is meant to be a safe space to everyone, not just white people into astrology, and most astrology out there is very eurocentric and heteronormative. I am attempting to change that, which means calling people out.

Context is important!

I feel I’ve failed to touch on this in the time I’ve had this blog. The problem is that it took me awhile to even figure out this concept.

In the art of astrology, when reading a chart, context is everything. By this, I mean, you have to synthesize the data you’re given. Now, I think the reason why people don’t realize this is because astrology has been broken down so much into “cookbook astrology”, meaning that it’s been simplified to certain aspects. For example, you can find “natal sun trine mars” anywhere on the internet and find out what it means. But when you look it up, it’s not that it’s a bad thing, but there’s context missing. What sign in the sun in and what sign is mars in? A sun in Aries trine mars in Leo is going to be a lot different than say, a sun in Scorpio trine mars in Pisces. And we’re not even taking into context the houses, which are another part of the picture. Essentially what I’m saying is that you need to consider everything going into an aspect, even the degrees.

This is why even though you and your best friend are born in the same month just a few days apart, you’re not exactly the same. I know two people born on the same day of the same year but are completely different from each other. This, once again, plays into CONTEXT. Both of these individuals have different rising signs, even though their sun sign and moon signs are the same and they both have very similar aspects. A libra sun in the seventh house, like I have, is far different from a libra sun in the first house.

Everything plays into each other in astrology, and this is why I love it. Reading “cookbook astrology” definitely helps understand the basics of the dynamics that happen, but even if you and some other person have moon square venus, both with 0 orbs, but you have different ascendants, it’s going to have an effect. Anyone can share an aspect with someone else, but the reason why the “astrology is bunk because no one born in the same month is exactly the same” falls short is because astrology is context, and without the context, it’s nothing. It doesn’t allow for people to be individuals, and that’s a problem.

Essentially:

  • Taking the houses, signs, and aspects into consideration = good
  • Cookbook astrology is useful if you’re a beginner, but don’t begin to rely on it too heavily.
  • Generalizing = BAD.

Q:Welcome back! It's good to see some TRUTH regarding Astrology on my dash. Hope all is well. :-) Look forward to more posts.

xxxkrisskrossxxx

Hi! :D I’m hoping to be writing on this blog more but sometimes I need a prompt. Thinking I should go on another astrology blog and write criticisms? I dunno. I have a few days left of one class and then I have a month off so hopefully I will find inspiration during that time off.

Moon Signs

astrozodiac:

The moon is the second most important planet placement, the first being your sun sign. The moon represents who you are on a deeper level, the way in which you view yourself. Where your sun sign represents how you are as an individual, the moon is representative of your personality and your inner self. The moon is also the part of you that you don’t let others see, perhaps there are traits or thought you aren’t proud of, thats the deeper you, which is showcased by your moon sign. It is the raw you. Fantasies, fears, and unpleasant feelings. However the moon also shows the beautiful side of your personality, in a sense shows you in extremes and how those extremes are expressed. There is no hiding from the moon, because it is the real you. How you feel, pleasures, and your likes and dislikes, how you sense and respond to the world, dreams, your past, your subconscious, and how others feel about you are all examples of how your moon sign is expressed. It is an important factor in compatibility and many feel that they relate more to their mood sign, or are more of a blend of their sun and moon sign. X

Hello I’m going to disagree because while the moon sign IS important, you can’t just say that it’s one of the most important planet placements as a blanket statement. This statement ignores planetary rulers and their significance, which can be above that of the moon. It depends on the sign and house that the moon makes, and also the aspects it makes. If you have a moon in Cancer in the 4th house conjunct Cancer sun with 0 orbs, then it’s going to be a lot stronger in your chart than say my moon, which is in Sagittarius in the 9th house squaring Venus with 2 orbs and Jupiter with 0 orbs. And this isn’t to say it’s not important, but it varies and blanket statements that the moon is “second most important” piss me off because you can’t just SAY THAT, it depends on the chart. I hate many astrology sites because it’s cookbook astrology and it never factors in the chart and how that influences the things around it. GRAAAHHH.

(And the significance of the moon isn’t too off, but I think you need to look deeper and explain WHY it rules all these seemingly different things yet how all these things are ACTUALLY connected by the moon.)

Also, hello astrology bloggers, I have appeared out of the shadows!

This is a somewhat personal post about why I haven’t attended to this blog as much as I should.

Okay okay so I think I know why I’m having a hard time maintaining this blog, and I think it’s mainly due to a few things:

  1. I have ideas on what to write about but they’re all half-formed ideas and I want to write about ALL THE THINGS.
  2. My inspiration usually comes under water sign influences, I’ve noticed.
  3. I want to have discussions but I don’t know enough people who know what I know (and I want to advance FURTHER into astrology but that means I’ll have less and less people to talk to. WELP).
  4. You all have questions! That’s great! But sometimes I honestly have no idea to answer them because it’s been awhile since I’ve touched on astrology. That and astrology is absolutely broad, and when you ask me about stuff that might happen to you and I have no chart to work with, it makes it harder for me.

I don’t want to get rid of this blog, if only for the fact that my best friend Kyle read it once and told me to keep up the legacy. That was my last conversation with him, so yes, this blog means a lot to me, especially since I lost the one person I could discuss astrology with. He was the only one who would listen as I buzzed on about certain aspects and know what I was saying. He connected me with astrology, and now that he’s gone, I’ve been sort of disconnected to it. It’s still interesting and I love studying all of this, but what the fuck do I do? Even my boyfriend, who lets me ramble about astrological stuff to him whenever I want doesn’t have a full understanding of the beauty of astrology.

And I’m going to be honest here: I’m even an outcast in astrology communities, because well…that’s what happens everywhere. The only places where I’m not an outcast is within autistic communities. So this puts me in a difficult predicament for astrology discussions because my outlook is one that is different, studying several different parts of astrology at once (it’s very a very broad field once you start delving into charts).

So basically, this is my explanation to neglecting my blog. I’m going to try and update it more. I’m exploring the occult more, so astrology should definitely play into my journey.

Venus in Pisces

I’m going to write about Venus in Pisces this time, because in the time Venus spent in Pisces, a lot of things were revealed to me, and it acted at a major force in my life.

Think of Venus in Pisces like an ocean. There’s a limited amount of what you can see on the surface, because it just looks like blue, but there’s so much hiding under there. I found a lot of secrets revealed with Venus in Pisces. I was letting all of these things that I had repressed out of fear outwards, and secrets from others came out as well.

Venus in Pisces is soothing. It is comfort. It’s an embrace when you’re crying. Likewise, it’s a storm. It’s waves crashing on top of each other. It’s tears upon tears. It is both of these polarities put into one emotion and you find yourself very calm, but very sad. You find yourself with a weight in your chest. You find yourself thinking about so many things, and emotions you thought had vanish come back to you again.

I can’t really tell you how the individuals with Venus in Pisces are, but I can tell you how Venus in Pisces works. Venus in Pisces has been over, but it’s the time for revelations. It’s a time for empathic bonds and complicated romantic situations. Venus in Pisces will reveal to you the complexity of interpersonal relationships. It lets you see the dynamics of relationships and of rivalries in new dimensions. It seems mysterious until Pisces reveals it to you, and once you know, you’ve been let in on one of Pisces’ secrets.

Perhaps this entry is cryptic, but it’s one from my heart. It’s short, and it’s very personal. But I needed to write about it before I could do anything else with this blog.

Hi everyone, this blog still exists, and I’m about to write a post in response to a message I got

I’ve gotten a few, I’m sorry I haven’t been responding, but I dunno, I haven’t been very inspired for posts. Long story short, I miss astrology discussions, but that’s something personal and yeah.

I miss this blog, I just don’t know what to write anymore.

Happy Capricorn sun! I think it’s been in Capricorn for about a day.

Don’t worry, fellow Sagittarians. I still have to write about Sagittarius and I’m not going to forget to do that, I just need some sort of inspiration.

About

I'm Natalie, and I am TIRED of popular astrology. I'm tired of broad, one-line statements from Hipster Astrology meant to define a sign. I'm tired of heteronormativity so often found in astrology. I'm tired of misconceptions EVERYWHERE about every fucking sign. I'm here to debunk that shit.

I am a fledgling astrologer with the mouth of a sailor. I am brutally honest (sometimes rude), and sometimes I'm funny. Whether you're new to astrology or familiar with it, enjoy. This has been an introduction.
